Now that planetarion supports displaying WML pages as well as HTML pages, I think an article to try to answer some of the most common questions, would be in place.
What is WML?
WML is a subset of HTML better suited for mobile stations/cellular phones. WML stands for Wireless Markup Language. For planetarion this means we outputs WML pages instead of HTML pages if we detect a browser which supports WML.
Why WML?
Alot of players have been requesting support for playing planetarion through their mobile stations/cellular phones. If you do not have access to a computer hooked onto the internet, you can now play planetarion through your phone.
What is WAP?
WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol and is the protocol used by mobile phones to communicate in a wireless network. For comparison, computers communicate on the network using TCP/IP. Normally you do not have to worry about WAP, except for the fact that if you want to access Planetarion through your mobile station you need WAP support on that particular phone.

Getting Started
If you have a WAP phone and want to access planetarion through the phone, you must make sure it is, of course a WAP phone, then you need to set it up, and last you need to point your WAP-browser to the
http://www.planetarion.com/index.wml (please note Eriksson Mobiles work on
http://www.planetarion.com).
Setting up your WAP phone
Tricky. If you think there already are a mix of different standard HTML browsers with different flavours such as netscape, internet explorer, opera, lynx, then this is a peace of cake compared to the wide variety of WAP phones. Often when you purchase a WAP phone it is already setup with a gateway.
Some basic rules:
For those phones which are not connected to a gateway, you are on your own. In 99% of the cases the operator, where you are subscribed, offers a WAP-gateway. You can think of the gateway as a just a machine in which you must connect to get on the internet. The different WAP phones have different ways of configuring access to a gateway. But in most cases you would need to specify an IP number to the gateway and possible username / password.
The following sites tries to guide you through setup of different phones:
www.wap.com (select WAP phone setup on the left menu)
www.djuice.com (a bit bloated, and doesn't work with netscape)
Adding Bookmarks
Bookmarks are important in the WAP phones realm. Some phones does not allow the user to manually type in an URL, so you are better off creating one bookmark, name it whatever you want, and make that bookmark point to
http://www.planetarion.com/index.wml
Accessing planetarion
If you have created a bookmark which points to planetarion, all you need is to goto this bookmark. And of course each phone has it's own version of accessing bookmarks, so I can't help you there.
A simple page with a link named 'Login' should take you to the login-page (
http://cpaweb01.planetarion.com/login.fcg), but remember that this URL might change as we are constantly changing the configuration of the webservers.
Enter your 'loginname' and your 'password'.
NB: currently planetarion login is case sensitive. So if your login name is 'vIsh' and your phone only inputs uppercase letters, then you cannot log onto the game. Some phones looks like they writes in uppercase, but actually sends all the text in lowercase. If your loginname AND your password is all lowercase, then it _should_ work. But then again - so many different phones :-/
Important Points to Remember!
1. You can Only Access Fleet 1 via WAP (so if you planning on attack via WAP Make sure everything you need is in Fleet 1)
2. You can still Construction Research, Order Ships/PDS like the normal game
Ericsson Guide
This is for the Ericsson T20E but should work with other models.
First of all you go into the Main Menu, once there Access WAP Services From there scroll down till you reach Bookmarks go into it and select Add new you can then give it a name PA (or any of your choice) then you must key in the WAP Address, With Ericsson I have found
http://www.planetarion.com works without the .WML sub page.
Once you have keyed that in and clicked ok you will be brought back to the main Bookmark Menu if you scroll down till you find your bookmark, my example was called PA you click ok and you get 4 Options .
1. Go to, quite simple takes you to Planetarion (
http://www.planetarion.com).
2. Edit, also quite Simple gives you the option to edit the title and Address (where the link goes).
3. Delete, Deletes the Link from your Book Marks.
4. Forward link, can be used to forward the link to a friend, allowing them to store it as a bookmark.
