1. Amphetamine undergoes metabolism via different routes, one of which is through the liver enzyme CYP 2D6. A large number of SSRI drugs are known to be moderate to strong inhibitors of this enzyme. Amphetamine itself can inhibit CYP 2D6. When this inhibition takes place, the metabolism and excretion of the drugs that follow this pathway, is affected, leading to a potentially toxic build-up of either drug in the system, leading to a much greater potential for serious adverse effects ranging from hyper-pyrexia to tachycardia to lots of other nasty effects.

2. Apart from the metabolic issues, amphetamine not only stimulates the release of mono-amines like serotonin, but can also inhibit the transporters (read Re-uptake). So taken together with an SSRI or SNRI, this can lead to dangerously high amounts of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, making serotonin syndrome a very real possibility.
